The holiday is a high time for anxiety.  Our calendar is already full of party invites not to mention having to deal with most of the holiday shopping and cooking.  Office party? We would rather stay home because it’s stressful to be invited to a work party not knowing what to wear and what to talk! How you dress at these events can have a positive or negative influence on your career.   Never fear Mama is here for you to provide a list of these acceptable office party dresses as well as a guide of what not to wear.  Just remember…

  1. Don’t bare too much flesh. You have the right to bare arms but no cleavage…keep it to yourself.
  2. Don’t go overboard with sequins and sparkles.  A little sequin and sparkle goes a long way.
  3. Don’t wear see-through material.  Make sure you have a slip underneath a see-through garment.
  4. No low-cut fronts. No Ands or Buts.  It’s Absolutely no!
  5. No high hemlines.  If you really want to rock this look then wear an opaque tight intead of hosiery.
  6. No baring backs.  This is a No-No.
  7. Not too tight and clingy.  A Definite No!

Remember to keep your makeup light and stick with a simple natural hairstyle look.  Just be festive but don’t be tacky or trashy.  You don’t have to dress like a nun but rather choose something that is tasteful and classic like these pieces:

1. Black Embroidered Dress,: $130, Topshop
2. Brocade Dress: $270, Outnet
3. Peplum: $96, Topshop
4. Nude Shimmer Dress: $68, Miss Selfridge
5. Lace Shift Dress: $80, Miss Selfridge
6. Cherr Rib Skater Dress: $84, Topshop
7. Red Ruffle Dress: $57, Miss Selfridge
8. Lace Tunic Dress: $245, Outnet
9. Black Skater Dress: $68, Miss Selfridge
10. Embellished Shoulder Dress: $98, Warehouse

  1. Hello! I’m enjoying reading your blog…I particularly love your taste in clothing. I have a question, do you get any perks or get paid to advertise the specific stores or clothing brands you mention in your blog? I’m just curious… Keep up the good work! I’m also interested to know how you style your hair and makeup.

      Hi Andrea,

Thank you. I don’t get paid at all for advertising the store or clothing brands. That’s why I have the freedom to select any piece of item I want to present as long as they go well together. I’m doing this because I really love it. Please tune in more for my hair and makeup. Hint…I keep it very natural and simple.

  2. These are great tips and very helpful for office parties. I agree, keep things fun, but conservative. You don’t want to have to do the walk of shame on Monday morning. Heather

  3. Great style advice! Great that it is all accessible. Love your site! In my dreams I would fit into and wear #10, but in reality I’d be in #8…
