The ever-popular 1960’s bouffant continues to resonate in the fashion world for 2013. This is a really versatile style that’s achievable whether you have two minutes or two hours to put it together; so it’s perfect for busy mums!

Here are our picks for both day and night-time, and a quick guide of how to rock them this season:

  • Daytime Chic

Model-of-the-moment Cara Delevingne teamed her pretty half-up, half-down ‘do with statement ‘brows for a strong retro look.

The young fashionista’s long locks have been backcombed into a subtle bouffant, pinned at the back of the head with a couple of hairpins. The rest of her hair is left to rest around her shoulders in gentle curls.

To achieve this Marc Jacobs, runway look, tease the hair on the crown of the head, making sure to keep the shape of the bouffant softer, as this gives a modern edge to this age-old style.

And singer/songwriter Lily Cooper demonstrates how this versatile look works, even with the heaviest of fringes.

For her first gig in almost three years (at Paris Fashion week, no less), the busy mum-of-two rocked a high no-fuss bouffant with her signature heavy fringe… just make sure you’ve got plenty of hairspray for this one!

  • Elegant Evening Styles

Amanda Seyfried wore her hair up in a chic bouffant for the 2013 Oscars. The Les Misérables star wore her golden locks in a pretty bouffant style braided back into a tousled bun. This ethereal look takes a bit of fiddling to get right, but is perfect for keeping the hair off the face and softening the features.

Adele’s 2013 Grammys’ dress may have been compared to curtains by many in the fashion world, but no one can complain about her pretty, feminine hairstyle.

The 24-year-old’s hair has been blow dried with a medium-sized round brush, and then set in hot rollers; before being carefully brushed out with a natural bristle brush and pulled into a French twist. The prominent curls characterising this look have been gently pinned back, to sit away from her face.
