Giveaway from Made By Survivors!!!

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you had a great weekend.

I’m excited to announce that Made by Survivors is generously giving away any item from their website valued at $100 or less.  Made by Survivors is an international nonprofit organization which employs and educates survivors of slavery and other human rights abuses, including many women and children living in extreme poverty.  Their programs provide training in highly respected professions and wages high enough to get people out of poverty and able to support themselves independently.  100% of profits go to support rescue and aftercare.

Every item on their website is handmade from women who have escaped sex trafficking, and who are re-making their lives with Made by Survivors.  I’ve worn their Tanja necklace here, which I really really love.  

I’m wearing their bird cuff bracelet and the flame pendant necklace.   Birds are the perfect metaphor for these survivors because they are at once so vulnerable and delicate, yet incredibly strong.  Likewise, the flame pendant represents the human spirit – the flame which can never be extinguished.  The bracelet and the necklace that I’m wearing are handcrafted by the individuals as the survivors who made it.  They have transcended the pain of their past abuse – severe poverty, exploitation, or even slavery – and now are creating a bright future through the help from Made by Survivors.

These survivors have a long journey ahead of them, as they rebuild shattered lives and gain the tools to rejoin society as strong, independent, capable women.  Made by Survivors’ commitment is to walk beside them every step of the journey, and their job is not finished until they are permanently slavery-proofed, with education, economic empowerment, a strong identity and sense of self-worth, and knowledge of human rights and laws regarding slavery and the laws surrounding it.  You can read more here if you want more information on how you can help.

I’m very proud to be wearing their products and sharing them with you.  I hope you will enjoy their products as much as I have.
