While looking for my J Brand grey jeans (wore them here) I stumbled upon my beloved leather pants from BCBG MaxAria that I had purchased in early 2000. Those leather pants have embarked on an envious voyage around the world from the Almafi Coast in Italy to Big Ben in London, England. They also were snuck into clubs and concerts from the Baja of Mexico to the Sin City. As the premium denim craze swept the country and my wallet in the last decade, these leather pants were nowhere to be found. They were folded and stored somewhere in my garage.
Well, leather pants are back and they are skinnier than before but I just can’t justify paying $500-$1000 a pair for them. After a long hesitation and few glasses of wine I decided to refashion these leather pants. I took them to my tailor and had them converted from loose fit to skinny. And she did! It was one of the joyous fashion moments for me…realizing I didn’t have to spend money in purchasing a pair (or investing if you will) of skinny leather pants. My leather pants came to life once again and now I get to wear them often with endless pairings.
One of my favorite pairings is with a t-shirt, blazer, and pumps. If I want an edgy/trendy look then I would pair them with a stripe t-shirt and faux fur jacket like this look here. I wore this outfit for a family dinner and surprisingly, I managed not to dirty the leather pants or the coat. I finished this look with a statement necklace, spiked bangle and Joseph Nogucci bracelet.
