As much as I love my nails painted all the time I like to let them breath once in a while. This means no polish on the nails for a week or so. At the same time I hate neglected looking nails. Actually, I get very self conscious if my nails are not tended to. How do I combat this fear while maintaining a chic look? Here are my tips:
1. File your nails. I like to shape my nails into a soft square, my all time favorite shape. Do not file your nail beds yet, just the ridges.
2. Soak and clean your nails. Apply cuticle oil (use olive oil if you don’t have any) on your nails. Soak them in warm water for 2 minutes. Use an orangewood or metal stick and push back those cuticles. I try not to cut my cuticles because that can lead to infections.
3. Buff”Em! Yes, you heard me right. I’d like to file my nail beds during this step. Then I just buff them! Go back and forth with the rough side, then repeat with the smooth side for crazy shiny nails!
I love wearing this look whenever I travel, especially for trips that are more than 5 days. Otherwise, I will have to lug my entire nail kit or locate a local manicurist to do my nails…that can eat up my travel time!
