Living room makeover before and after

I’m excited to share our living room’s transformation with you!  It took us a year and half to determine what to do with this living room.  When we first saw this house one of the features that sold us was this fireplace.  Even though it was covered with river rocks (not really our style) but we saw the potential.  Not only did we immediately remove the rocks and replaced with stones we also got rid of the cottage cheese ceiling, removed the green forest carpet, refinished the original wood floor and painted the walls.

We did not furnish this room once it was done because we weren’t sure if we were going to move in completely.  For a year and  a half we had one beat up sofa (now in my office) and a rustic wood coffee table (sold it a month ago) sitting on a worn out 2 X 5 rug.  It was very uninviting and frankly I didn’t want to spend any time in this room.  As mentioned here I’ve been collecting some inspirational images to get me started.  Thank goodness to Homegoods, WorldMarket and Joss & Main’s affordable prices, I was able to locate the accent chairs, sofa, coffee table, wool rug and odds and ends to complete the look.

Today, I can honestly say we have completed 90% of the decor (still shopping for a piano!) just in time for our Christmas gathering.  My next project is the dining room while busy shopping for materials for the kitchen & bathrooms renovation project.  Merry Christmas everyone 🙂
