Happy Monday everyone!

This Christmas was THE BEST ever for me!  We didn’t travel this year and with the boys being a bit older we were able to fully execute new Christmas traditions.  Well, I didn’t really have any Christmas traditions until I met G.  Every Christmas we spent was with his family.  There would always be a relative hosting a Christmas Eve dinner, Christmas breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Their traditions were while having Christmas Eve dinner, It’s a Wonderful Life would be playing on screen in the background, followed by espresso/coffee/tea/desserts and then opening gifts at midnight.  For Christmas we would head to a relative’s home for lunch and then dinner shortly after that.  I will always remember my first Christmas meal with them…I ate so much that G  had to roll me out of the house!  What really stuck with me with every Christmas celebration was how much love and positive energy were generated during those gatherings.  It was magical and memorable!

Now that we are our own unit as a family we wanted to create our own Christmas traditions.  We started the process by shopping for a tree after Thanksgiving and putting up lights and decor around our house.  Hot chocolate served every night since then.

On Christmas Eve, we slept in and headed to a breakfast deli down the street to have late breakfast/early lunch.  A couple ours later both G & I started to prep for our Christmas Eve dinner for our family and friends with Christmas Carols playing in the background while sipping wine.  The dinner menu was very simple and easy to make.  We went with Prime Ribs as main entree,  pears with prosciutto as appetizer, sweet potatoes, red potatoes and asparagus as side dishes.  Dessert?  Just plain pecan pie & pumpkin pie with vanilla ice cream from Trader Joe’s.  We all took a walk down the street after dinner to walk off the food and also enjoying some Christmas lights.  We ended the evening with the boys opening their presents before heading off to bed.

On Christmas day,  both the twins & I slept in while G made coffee & French Toast Panettone for breakfast. We had Dim Sum with my family for lunch even though we typically have Dim Sum for breakfast.  A few hours later, we went to see Big Hero 6.  Our twins really loved this movie because when it was over they didn’t want to leave during the credits.

Those couple days were magical and memorable (hopefully for the twins as well) for me.  Since we enjoyed it so much we decided to stick to these traditions every Christmas.  Did you celebrate your Christmas traditions as usual or did you create new ones?
