If you are an avid Mama In Heels reader then you know my hair is not naturally dark brown.  I’m over 40 and my hair has reached 45-50% gray.  My hair also grows extremely fast…a blessing and a curse.  Needless to say, I often color my hair (not ready for that silver fox look yet!) usually in 3 to 4 weeks.  Sometimes, I just let it grow out for up to 6 weeks (that’s the max!) because the less I color my hair the less likely it will cause damage to my hair.  The between salon visits is the least stylish part.  To combat that I use this technique very often but it is not ideal because it tends to leave a big patch of dull looking area after the application.  When ROOTSTIX was introduced to me as a gray root touch up product I was a bit skeptical.  I had tried other root touch up applicators before and was not a big fan.  So, after reading about it why not give it a try.

The Goods:

ROOTSTIX ($15)

roostix-1

The Claim:

No brushes, no smudging, no clumps – ROOTSTIX is easy to apply and offers temporary color for that uncomfortable time between hair appointments. The sleek pen allows you to get to the root of your color anytime, anywhere, whether you’re at the office or on the go.  Additionally, the product fills in brows giving a fuller effect to accentuate the eyes.  For men, use Rootstix on brows, mustache, beard and hair.

Mama’s Take:

I’ve been using the ROOTSTIX for a couple weeks now and I will let my pictures do the talking!

BEFORE AND AFTER ROOTSTIX

The application took less than 3 minutes to apply in 3 easy steps:

1. Place the small comb at the root of the hair.

2. Swipe with the pen and comb through color.

3. Touch up individual hairs with a brush of the pen.

I couldn’t be happier with the results…no dullness, no messy residues!  LOVE LOVE LOVE! Rootstix is available for $15 at beauty stores and specialty retailers, Amazon or directly through the site.
