Welcome to my monthly series called “My Monthly Favorite Investments” where I share my favorite investments of the month with you.  I do most of my shopping online, especially with brands that I know and trust. I have yet to dabble grocery shopping online but I’m sure that day is not too far from the horizon.  Here are the products I invested for the month of October.

october investments-1
1. Moroccanoil  Gold Glimmer Shine ($23).  I absolutely LOVE anything that is by MoroccanOil.  This one, the Gold Glimmer Shine, however is not as great as their other products.  Maybe because my hair does not respond well.  It goes on light but doesn’t really create the shine I was looking for.  There are no gold flecks in this product as suggested by the name. I think it’s a bit overpriced for what it is trying to do.  So, it looks like I’m not re-stocking this item any time soon.

2. Essie Gel Setter ($10).  Essie, yes I LOVE Essie to the moon and back.  I’ve been an Essie devotee for as long as I can remember.  When I saw this top coat to seal the polish like a gel nail I didn’t hesitate to get it.  Who has time to spend endless hours putting their hands in the LED lamp?  BUT…a major major letdown.  It was just as good as any top coat — it didn’t extend the nail polish any longer than any top coat from any brand.

3. Sally Hansen Miracle GEL Top Coat ($7).  I have never been a big fan of Sally Hansen because I found their nail polishes to be not as long lasting as Essie or OPI.  BUT, this miracle GEL top coat really blew my mind.  It actually  made my polish last up to at least 7 days.  That’s a major plus for this busy mama.  Oh, you don’t need to get their Miracle Gel color nail polish as a set to extend the life of your mani.  I bought one in red and applied the clear coat over but it made no difference.  I’ve been applying the Miracle GEL top coat to my OPI/Essie polish.  Trust me…it’s a great product.  The only thing they need to work on is the brush itself – few nylon strings came loose and it was a hassle to trim them.

4. L’Oreal Voluminous Extra-Volume Collagen ($7).  I’ve been a Maybelline Great Lash mascara devotee forever until I bought this brand a few months ago.  I was looking to restock my mascara but for some reason our drugstore ran out so I bought this one from L’Oreal instead.  I’ve been addicted to it since.  The formula really strengthens my lashes and held my curls all day long.  Last week, I couldn’t find it anywhere and I panicked.  I know…I’m a bit neurotic when it comes to SPF and mascaras.  Anyhow, this product is a great buy and I’m glad I found it!
