vacation-1

vacation1-2vacation1-1vacation-1-2A lot of things have happened over the past couple months.  Since late last week, I am no longer a remote employee after 12 yrs of dedicated service. It was a tough decision but it was time for me to move on. Timing couldn’t have been better; my kids are in school and they are not as needy as they used to be. This makes it easy for me to leave the house and interactive with adults face to face every day. I will no doubt enjoy my time with my family more than ever. With that said, we are currently enjoying a long overdue family mini vacation. We were planning to visit somewhere far away but given hubby’s tight work schedule and the craziness that’s been going on around the world we decided to go back to Las Vegas, our second home.

This time, we chose to stay at a condominium resort in Lake Las Vegas. This hidden gem, not known to a lot of people even some locals, is a Mediterranean-inspired oasis in the desert. We’ve been visiting this place since the late 2000s and we always make an effort to visit whenever we are in town. In addition to the lakeview music and boat rides, they have great restaurants, espresso and pastries to keep you full and happy.  Lake Las Vegas is half an hour away from the strip, 50 minutes from the Red Rock Canyon, and 40 minutes from the Hoover Dam – the perfect place for families to eat, sleep, rest and have fun. Oh, they also have free shuttles to the strip every day if you don’t want to drive. Of course, if you missed the last shuttle there’s always the Taxi or Uber.  In case I forget…rumor has it that Celine Dion takes resident here whenever she does her show in Las Vegas.

We are currently staying at the Aston Village Condo; very affordable (avg. $105/night) and clean. They have rentals from studio to 3 bedrooms. Most condos come with a full kitchenette so it’s perfect for families like us who want to save money and eat healthy. Costco, Target, and Walmart are 5 minutes away so you can buy your groceries and other household items if you forgot to bring them. For us, we didn’t need to. We packed an entire week of frozen entrees & vegetables that I cooked the night before. This saves money and time from cooking so all I need to do is cook some pastas and heat up the meat & veggies and our breakfast/lunch/dinner are taken care of. That way we have time to roam around the village and relax with coffee and pastries.  Did I mention we had an unexpected fireworks show right in front of our balcony on our first night?  There’s more to Vegas than Vegas.
