I have always been a night owl until recently.  I no longer can stay up ’till the wee hours to work on my blog or do other things. It seems like all I want is to collapse on my bed by 11 pm the latest and sleep through the night.  New job? Possibly.  Old age?  Most likely.  Whatever the case, I had to organize my time in order to get most things done and also get to work on time.

I no longer roll out of my bed in my pjs and be on conference calls first thing in the morning.  Instead, I need to be out the door for work.  My goal has been to be at the office by 7:30am every week day.  It is still a work in progress but I think I’m getting the hang of it.

I have decided to track my time on my morning routine for work so that I can optimize my time effectively.  So, for the past couple months it looks like it takes me an hour and 15 minutes on average from the time I get up to walking out of the door (including exercising, breakfast and the blog).  Here’s how I’ve been hacking it and I’m trying to improve it each day.

morning routine

6:15  Alarm is off but I stay in bed for 5 minutes because I really don’t want to get up!
6:20  I’m awake and brewing the coffee!
6:25  I spend about 5 minutes doing planks, push ups, and sit ups.
6:35  I’m done with shower, brushing my teeth, and curl my hair.
6:40  Coffee & Goat Milk Yogurt for breakfast.
6:45  I spend about 5 minutes on my makeup and finishing up my coffee at the same time.
7:00  Takes me less than 5 minutes to get dressed.  Tip: lay out your outfit the night before so you don’t have to waste 10 to 15 minutes of your time going through your closet.
7:15  I usually do some social media and responding to some emails for the blog.
7:30/7:45   Depending on the traffic but my average commute is 15 minutes to the office 🙂

Not having to get the twins ready for school first thing in the morning really helps.  Otherwise, half an hour more will be added to my usual routine.  Given how strict this is I always look forward to the weekends because that’s when I get to sleep in and rest.  And that’s what I’m going to do for the next couple days.

Have a great weekend.  Until then, I will see you on the blog next week 🙂
