I just returned from my annual NYFW trip. It was short, sweet, and productive. I love visiting New York and with each visit I feel like I’m in a new city – there’s just so much to see and experience.
Each year, my sister and I pick an area or two within Manhattan to explore. We did the Upper East/West areas on our last visit. This year we honed in on the Lower Manhattan areas like Tribeca, Meat Packing District, and West Village (stay tuned for an upcoming post on where to eat and see to avoid the crowd).
When I received the invites for the fashion shows I immediately panicked because I wasn’t sure what I was going to wear. I knew I needed outfits that can combat the heat & humidity while staying stylish and comfortable all day and all night long.
It took me a while to decide what I should pack, but one of the outfits that I ended up wearing the whole night was this flowy boho maxi dress instead. It felt comfortable to move in and since it covers my legs entirely, I didn’t have to worry about people looking at the dark spots from mosquito bites I recently experienced. Not that anyone would care, but you know it’s natural to feel self-conscious.
I also worried about the type of shoes I should be wearing. I never wear my flip flops to NYC because for whatever reason my feet always ended up with a layer of dirt at the end of the day.
Similar to my outfits, I wanted to wear a pair of shoes that look stylish but comfortable at the same time. Instead of opting for the Nudist sandals that I brought with me, I chose the block heel laced up sandals instead. Boy, my feet really thanked me for my decision that night!
NYFW sounds glamorous, and I think it is to most of us. You don’t have to look fashionable to attend the fashion shows. Just remember to be yourself and stay comfortable and you will get through them before you know it.

Hi, Janise! I’ve been following your blog for some time now. Great pics all the time! I have a nagging question which was triggered by this very low cut dress of yours: What else can I wear underneath a very low v-neck? I’m flat chested and though I know I can probably get away with a no-bra look, I just don’t feel comfortable exposing too much skin on the chest due to our relatively conservative culture (I live in the southern Philippines).

I’m flat chested too! I wore the self adhesive nude nipple covers underneath this dress. It felt really good because NY was so muggy and humid and not wearing an actual bra felt liberating! I also had double sided tape to keep the fabric from moving. I’m planning to wear a turtleneck underneath this dress in fall. Hope this helps.
