Must Have Shapewear Pieces

I have never worn shapewear until now.  It’s not because I didn’t need it, it’s just that I never liked my body being confined to anything.  I love my boyish body shape – athletic, strong, and agile.  And I won’t let anything stand in the way.

Most often than not, in many past occasions, I wish I had worn some type of shapewear to hold myself together, especially my tummy.  You see, aging and pregnancy can have a huge impact on your body.  My 40+ body is not as taut and tight as it was in my 20s and 30s.  Gravity seems to have taken over my entire being.  

To keep my body in shape, I eat healthy and practice yoga more so now than ever before.  Regardless, my tummy is temperamental and at least once a month it likes to make a statement.

I stopped by Kohl’s a few weeks ago to pick up a few luggage for our upcoming family trip.  As usual, I would stop by the fashion aisles and browse the items.  This time I found this gorgeous frock from Lauren Conrad’s collection.  I also stopped by their Shapewear department and couldn’t help myself with some of the pieces that were hanging beautifully.  

After trying on a couple pieces, especially along with the dress, I knew I’ve been missing out.  Seriously, who doesn’t like a nip here and there without going under the knife.  If you have yet to visit Kohl’s Shapewear section, you have to check it out at the store or online.  I promise you will find something you love.

Here are my must have Shapewear pieces for spring and beyond and how they have been whipping my body to the point where I may start thinking about skipping yoga:

ASSETS Red Hot Label by SPANX – Super Control High-Waist Panty

If I were to pack one shapewear with me for travel it would have to be the ASSETS Red Hot Label by SPANX.  This shaper does it all.  The tummy control panel flattens waist and banishes muffin top while providing an ultra comfortable panty on bottom.  This is by far my favorite shapewear.  I wore this shapewear under this dress here and it really helped to define my shape.  My shape did change much after a big brunch either.

Maidenform Shapewear Instant Slimmer Brief

This women’s Maidenform Shapewear brief provides a slimming, comfortable fit, with double-ply panels to control your thighs and tummy.  Love these control briefs!! They are so comfortable because of the fabric and the way they are designed.  I have worn this a couple times and loved the way it feels; comfortable and yet firms up the mid torso area. I am glad they still make a panty control brief that doesn’t roll down and gives you a smooth appearance.

This shaping tank top targets the tummy and banish the bulge while keeping everything else from jiggling.  The quality is excellent and the lightweight smoothing fabric is silky-soft to the touch.  I love wearing this tank top with denim, and a cardigan on the weekend for that casual look.  The adjustable shoulder straps keep the tank top locked in while flattening my tummy.  In this photo, I didn’t need to wear a bra underneath the tank top.  I love how soft the fabric is while holding everything else in place.

Just remember, when buying shapewear never choose a size too small because it can cause bulges or ripples instead of smooth lines.  Besides, it can get really uncomfortable.  Although I don’t wear shapewear for every outfit, it’s comforting to know that Kohl’s shapewear pieces are readily available whenever I need them.  If you are in the market for some shapewear pieces I highly recommend Kohl’s.  They are only a click away!
