winter styleEvery season I look for ways to update my style, especially winter style.  Let’s face it, staying stylish in the wintertime can be a challenge.  When it’s freezing cold, the last thing you care about is looking stylish…you just want to wear something that keeps you warm and cozy.  But it is possible!

Although I live in Los Angeles, this winter still feels like fall.  I’m not complaining but it would certainly be nice if the temperature would dip a little to reflect the season.  I say that because I love the cold.

Whether you live in the arctic zone or not, the fundamentals of updating your style remain the same for all seasons.

Want to know what my secret is to look like I wear a different outfit every day?  At least that’s what I’ve been told – LOL!  No, I don’t have a deep pocket to spend on clothes, shoes, and bags.  It’s called mix and match, but most importantly, investing in the right staple pieces like this cashmere sweater can have you look stylish in every outfit for fall/winter.

Cashmere can be very expensive, but it is one of the best investment pieces for fall/winter because it is the finest, softest, warmest, and most durable knit that can last for years to come.

I bought this cashmere sweater four years ago for less than $50 at a major sale.  The original price was $89, and that was considered inexpensive for a cashmere sweater.  Since then I have worn it countless times on and off the blog by mixing it with different clothing items in different textures, prints, and colors.

I often talk about how to update your look so you don’t look like you’re stuck in a time warp.  One of the ways to do that without spending on a new wardrobe every season is by mixing your staple pieces with current trends.  They are affordable and can amp up your outfit by looking updated.  My favorite places to shop for current trends are Zara, H&M, Topshop, Uniqlo, and ASOS.  These shops offer free and easy returns which make shopping fun and hassle-free.

A couple weeks ago I went to pick up this raffia bag at Zara and spotted this skirt for $10.  The skirt is from last season but the cut and print don’t look too trendy where I have to get rid of right after wearing it.  I knew both of the skirt and the bag would mix really well with this cashmere sweater and other staple pieces in the closet.

Voila, I just updated my winter style as well as a few more outfits for seasons to come!
