Hello everyone!  Hope your weekend is going well so far.

So it is official…Pantone Color of the Year 2014 was recently announced and it is…drum roll please…Radiant Orchid.  According to Pantone, “Radiant Orchid blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination. It is an expressive, creative and embracing purple—one that draws you in with its beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid emanates great joy, love and health”.  What ya all think?  You like?  I’m all about joy, love and health so me like it!!!

I know I know…some of you are not ready to part with the color green emerald yet.  I don’t believe in following or keeping up with trends but I wear whatever styles/colors suit my mood.  So bring on the radiant orchid and everything else in fuschia, purple and pink undertones.

To kick start this color for 2014 (I know…we are not there yet but only days away!), I chose my purple suede pumps as my inspiration and complemented with this eco-friendly “Slinga” lyocell jersey tunic from Gudrun Sjoden.  I love their unique and environmentally conscious clothing.  This tunic is one of my favorite pieces that I had selected from their Winter 2013 Collection to style.  It’s versatile and very very comfortable.  To finish the look, I added my pink blazer and a skinny belt.  I wore this outfit to meet up with one of my closest friends for lunch.  No kids…just 2 girls chit chatting away.  It felt like high school again and I loved every minute of it!

So are you ready for the color of Radiant Orchid?  How would you incorporate this color into your wardrobe?

  1. This is definitely an absolutely vibrant and rich color, let’s just hope and pray that the year 2014 is just as colorful and bright! Enjoy your week.

  2. Ooh, I love that pink blazer! I’m definitely happy with the Radiant Orchid choice because it’s a color that’s always looked good on me so I’ve worn it a lot, in or out of style. It’s nice when it’s actually IN style, though!

  3. Great color on you, Janise! I love it, but I might want to keep it away from my face and hair if I try to wear it. As great with black as pink is! Very pretty outfit on you!

  4. I don’t think I have any of this color in my closet, shoes like this would be a great way to start. You look great!

  5. I’m not a huge purple-y person, but yet some of my favorite things in my closet are this color! You wear it well! I didn’t partake in the emerald theme as much as I could have or should have, but I have a feeling I can get on board quickly with radiant orchid.

  9. I’m very excited about all the colors that Pantone announced. Though I don’t normally wear much in the purple family, I am daring enough to find a pair of cool Hush Puppies or suede oxfords in the orchid color. Wouldn’t that be fun!
