Happy Monday everyone!

||Wearing: ASOS faux fur coat (old, similar one here) Sweater dress – thanks to Gudrun Sjoden, BCBGMaxAzria corset belt, Sergio Rossi pumps (old but love these), Oasis clutch, JCrew layered necklaces||

A few nights ago was quite chilly so I paired my favorite Gudrun Sjoden sweater dress with a faux fur coat for our family weekly dinner outing.   Just before leaving, Dante woke up from his nap in screaming rage!   His pants were all wet and it wasn’t from his pee!!!   It turned out he had stomach flu.  So we cancelled dinner.

Peds said since it’s a viral infection there’s nothing that they could do but to wait it out for the next few days.  I also cancelled a couple scheduled visits from my girl friends.  One of them was planning to hang out with me and the boys.  We’ve been trying to schedule the visit for weeks and now is on the rescheduling queue again.  Another planned visit was a play date.  I bought all the pizza ingredients so that we could all bake and play.  This visit too was in the works for weeks to get both of our schedules in sync.

Dante’s stomach flu could be contagious so the best thing is to stay away to avoid any potential threat to anyone.  Sometimes things don’t always go as planned and you just have to drop everything and take care what is most important to you, your kid’s health.

  1. That sucks Janise. But you do look great. We’ve been lucky that Aiden’s sicknesses have not interveened too much with our plans but yes when kids get sick, they get sick.

  2. At least you got a photo in the outfit you would have worn, and I totally appreciate your great style.

I’m sorry that you’ve had to cancel and these plans but you totally did the right thing. your little guy is not well and you don’t need to justify a cancellation, although sometimes thats how it feels. I’ve been in similar cases where I’ve actually had to other parent say “bring them anyway” even when my little one was throwing up every two minutes. It’s not always easy putting them first, but you did the right thing AND you’re outfit is already picked out for his recovery dinner!

Thank you Angie! I know. I feel bad for cancelling with other parents but luckily my friends were very understanding and they would have done the same.

  3. I’m so sorry for you and the munchkin, both. Poor baby. I’d hate to be a mommy these days. Tough news coming about the polio-like symptoms appearing in your part of the world. Moms like you rock, especially when you are aware of protecting other women’s kids just like you do your own.
Hope all is well soon, that your baby is all better, and that you get out for a break!
You look lovely here, of course … the belt makes all the difference, doesn’t it?

  4. A couple of months ago, a stomach flu tore through my family. It only lasted 36 hours but it sucked and EVERYONE got it! Ugh. Glad he’s doing better!

  5. FINALLY I got an easy math problem this time. 🙂 I am SO sorry about your little one getting the flu! That is the worst. 🙁 Your outfit is beautiful and hopefully Dante gets well soon so you get a chance to wear it to the next family dinner! -Gina

Ah, I know this feeling so well too, and there is just nothing that you can do but sigh, grit your teeth and start the planning all over again. You did look lovely for your dinner though! That belt is fabulous. Thanks for linking to #AllAboutYou, hope you can come back tomorrow
