 …A Lace Blouse

Welcome to the Remix/Restyle series for the month of June.  Each month, I choose an item from my closet and show how you can wear it in a new way every week.  This month’s feature is the lace blouse from Dolce Vita (still available here for $49).  In case you have not noticed, lace is in and it is everywhere.

I love lace because with its delicate feel, the fabric is very womanly, and it never really goes out of fashion.  My first intro to lace was in my early teens, the Madonna era.  If you have any ideas about the eighties then you may have heard of a Pop Star called Madonna who rocked many lace outfits.  Her most notable or attention outfit was the racy lace bustier and lace gloves she wore during her magnetic MTV Music Awards performance.  I wanted to wear lace since then but not in that manner because that Material Girl look should be on the stage.

There is a wrong and right way to wear lace.  Fashion Rules said avoid wearing jewelry with lace if possible, unless you want an over the top look.  Fashion Rules are made to be broken and this look is violating those rules all over the place!  I paired the lace blouse with a lace skirt and added a chunky layered pearl necklace and pearl earrings.  To avoid looking too bridal  I completed the outfit with studded cutout booties!  Hey, as long as you feel confident wearing whatever it is you love there’s no such thing as Fashion Rules!

    I love your styling! So beautiful and your booties give it a bit of an edge – fabulous!
    Restyling is part of my understanding how to make best use of my wardrobe too.

      Thank you. It is actually not a dress but a blouse and a skirt. I love how everyone thinks it’s a dress 🙂
