A pencil skirt is a timeless stable and it is a must in an office environment.  There is something astounding about wearing this hip-hugging skirt; it can withstood the test of time because no matter your body type, it can flatter your figure, it can instantly whittle your waist, enhance your curves, make you look slimmer, and also look chic no matter the occasion. Since we are talking about office wear for this post let’s just focus on that.  Before we get into that just remember these tips to look your best at a casual office setting:

Makeup: Wear natural looking makeup, no bold red lips.
Nails: Clean, neat, and natural looking. Ditch the claw nails!
Hair: Clean, neat, and natural looking. Ditch the hairspray bottle!
Top: No cleavage! Leave the girls at home. Wear a tank top underneath if your top is low-cut.
Bottom: No ripped denim whatsoever. Save them for a night out or weekend errands.
Accessories: Keep it simple.  The fewer the better.  I always wear a watch, stud earrings, and a dainty necklace.  Leave the excessively cute, big, or loud accessories for a night out with your spouse/partner or girl friends.
Shoes: No running shoes.

How to Look for that Perfect Pencil Skirt

Well, the waist line should sit high-waisted so that it is flatter to your waistline, which is about 2 inches above your belly button. Also, the skirt itself should fit nicely at the widest point of your hips and then go straight down to the hem. The hem line should hit you at the smallest point of your legs, which is above or directly below the knee.

What to Wear with a Pencil Skirt:

All these 5 looks above are office friendly, except Victoria’s (that shirt needs to be buttoned up).  My favorite would have to be the first look.  I love how a simple button down stripe shirt tucked in a below the knee pencil skirt can make the outfit look chic, effortless, and polished.  Of course, You can opt for a monochromatic outfit to look stylish and professional.  Or, tuck in a wrap shirt for a more business look.  Then add a pair of neutral pumps and a structure bag, and you are ready to grab a seat at the boardroom.

Do you have a pencil skirt in your closet? If not, no worries I have located some affordable (less than $40) but chic and office appropriate pencil skirts for you to peruse.
