Welcome to the Get to Know series where each week I introduce a new blogger behind him/her blog with Q&A’s – with personal revealing results. Check back on Wednesdays for your weekly peek behind the blog left slightly ajar.  This week I’m featuring Leisel from Skill Up Skillet, a blog with recipes based on video games and geek culter.

What is your blog about?
Skill Up Skillet is a geeky food blog. I primarily post recipes based on video games and geek culture in general. Incidentally, because I hate cookbooks I tend to be extremely irreverent about it. Not only will you find incredible, creative recipes, you’ll get a healthy dose of sarcasm and self-deprecating humor, too!

How often do you blog?
Currently I’m posting recipes every 2nd and 4th week, with guest posts, round-ups, and geeky gadget reviews on odd weeks.

Best compliment you have received?
It’s really impossible for me to pick a favorite compliment. I’ve never told anyone but I’ve actually saved every message I’ve ever received from people contacting me on my About page. I’ve also gotten some incredible feedback in my last post, Assassin’s Creed Cookies. I think a lot of my readers realized that I really am a ‘real person’ in that post and it helped me out a lot.

If you could be any age for a week, what age would that be and why?
I’m good with my current age, really.  I just need a bloody vacation.

If you could spend the day with any celebrity, who would it be?
Probably Marilyn Manson. Not even because of the music, but he’s also an incredible painter. I feel like he’d help me put some real passion into my painting– mostly because out of all media I’ve used, I really despise painting.

If you could retire tomorrow, what would you do?
Assuming this means I have the funds to do as I please, I’d go back to posting new recipes weekly. I’d also be gaming full time.

Your dream vacation? Worst vacation? Best vacation?
My dream vacation would either be A. Staying home and actually being left alone (why do people always find you when you’re trying to get Me Time??) or B. Touring through Japan to try each Pocky flavor. Worst vacation… Maybe the trip to Virginia Beach? Not because it was particularly bad, but I made the decision to climb up a lighthouse tower in 110 degree heat. My legs felt like jelly for almost a week! I also got burns on the soles of my feet from the hot sand. My best vacation was the trip I took to Italy and Greece in my senior year of high school. I paid for the trip by myself and went over spring break. It was the best thing I’ve ever bought myself and I still have most of my souvenirs.

Your favorite book and why?
My favorite book currently is The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak. With Death as a world-weary narrator, a main character sharing my name, and the importance of words in a hostile world it’s one of the most important books everyone should read. Though if you’re looking for overall excellent authors I’d recommend Stephen King and Ellen Hopkins.
