workbag-1On the day I started a real job in my 20s I had one work bag – a black leather shoulder bag. It was not as stylish but very functional. I was able to stuff my wallet, makeup, a pen and my small Franklin Covey calendar.

Fast forward a couple decades later I started carrying different work bags to work.  Well, maybe a few functional yet stylish ones.  They come in different variations and colors but they all share some commonalities – structured and classic.

One of my favorite work bags that’s been in heavy rotation is the Reed Kakroff RK40 tote.  It’s simple and pretty in my opinion.  It’s also roomy and light – a perfect combination for a short girl like me.  While the handles have plenty of space to have the bag fit nicely in the crook of your arm, or even over your shoulder, my favorite feature is the back slide pocket on the outside of the bag, which comes in handy for a cell phone.

So what’s in my work bag?

Facial Spray: I used to carry a small bottle of evian water but when I read about this claudine spray I had to try it. Honestly, I hate this bottle. It’s pricey and it really doesn’t do much for my skin. I don’t like the smell because it’s so strong that my kids even hate it. Why do I carry it? I have no idea why it’s even in my bag in the first place. I guess I couldn’t bare to throw it away because I paid a lot of money for such a small bottle.

Little Notebook: I have had this notebook for years. I keep this handy to jot things down. I still have my favorite pizza dough recipe that I reference whenever I make pizza with the boys. Besides, sometimes it is better to just write it down.

Pen: It’s always handy to have a pen in your bag because sometiems it is faster and easier to write it down than to put it on the phone.

Wallet: This is a vehicle to carry my cc, cash, and driver’s license.

Phone: Every girl needs a phone in this technology dependent age.

Mirror: I love having a mirror to check on my makeup during the day, especially after lunch.

Lipstick: This is one of my favorite lipsticks.  It glides on smoothly and moisturizes my lips at the same time.

Concealer:  For some reason I have not had to use this very often (I need to actually) but I just love to have it ready just in case.

Hair Texturizer:  I hardly use this but it’s also good to have for those bad hair days.

Sunnies:  I always carry my sunnies with me work or no work…they come in handy to protect those eyes from the UV rays during my afternoon walks!

Business Card Holder:  For some reason this is another item that I constantly carry with me.  I bought this almost 20 years ago and it is still in great condition.  I use it to stuff tissue papers instead of business cards.

  1. what kind of hair texturizier do you use? I wish there was something I could spray to get beachy waves without having to use a curler (don’t have enough time in the morning)

I use Color WOW One Minute Transformation Styling Creme for touch ups. My hair is so straight that in order to get that beachy look I have to use a curler.
