giorgio armani foundation (1 of 1)Happy Friday!  I can’t wait for my mini getaway to Vegas this weekend.  I will join hubby for a spring fling 🙂 before the summer creeps in!  Follow me on Instagram and see how the whole getaway will unfold!

For this month’s products spotlight series I’d like to share my current favorite foundation, Giorgio Armani Designer Lift and why I decided to change to a different finish after using the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation loyally for 8+ years!

I love makeup but I don’t like to pile on too much, especially when it comes to foundations.  For over 8 years I have been using Giorgio Armani Silk Luminous Foundation because I loved the natural-looking, dewy skin, but the coverage was not enough.  As I was entering into my 40s so did my skin.  More lines. Check!  Sun spots. Check! Dryer, flakier skin. Check!  Thanks to aging I had no choice but to switch to a different liquid.

Price: $65.  Yes, quite steep and in my opinion it’s worth every penny.

Claim:

Designer Lift is a lifting foundation that supports smoother skin and the appearance of a lifted effect.   This bottle was developed with Armani’s unique micro-fil™ technology that drapes the face with an ultrafine micro-lifting matrix. This elastic matrix seals in a high concentration of exclusive emollients and velvet filters that immediately lift, soften, and firm the skin surface. A blend of two micro-fil powders illuminates the look of the skin, and it’s custom-formulated with exclusive Prussian blue pearl pigments to assist with intense depth and luminosity, reviving skin and correcting color irregularities, while also relieving dullness—creating a soft-focus effect that emits a youthful-looking glow.

My Take:

I was looking for a foundation that would give me great coverage and soft, dewy look while emitting a youthful-looking glow.  I tested some other brands but I left the Nordstrom beauty counter with this one.

Designer Lift has a silk, elegant, fluid texture that provides medium, buildable coverage.  However, it has a semi-matte finish.  Not what I was looking for but by adding a couple drops of Aveeno Absolutely Ageless Intensive Renewal Serum did the trick!  So this liquid (combined with the serum) gives my skin a weight less smooth appearance without sinking into lines around my eyes, lines on my forehead, laugh lines, or magnifying large pores.

What this liquid doesn’t do is the ability to lift the skin.  I wasn’t looking to lift anything because as much as I need them to be lifted it would require major needles and knives to achieve that look.  As long as the liquid can provide better coverage without looking like 6 layers of cake piled on my skin I’m happy!

If you want to purchase this online consider getting a lighter color because the colors tend to oxidize (darken) during wear due to it’s SPF ingredient.  You can see the bottles on the picture that the Designer Lift is a little lighter.  However, once applied it gets darker.

I’m packing this foundation with me for my mini getaway.  I hope you will have a fabulous Memorial Day weekend.  Until then, I will see you on the blog!
