Happy Monday!  Hope your weekend was treating you well.  Mine was quiet but productive.

A lot of you have been asking me how I juggle family, work, and the blog, yet still manage to look sane.  Well, it is still a work in progress and it’s not easy.  Hubby is extremely supportive so I get a lot of help from him.  I also have a type A personality where I don’t like to sit around and not doing anything.  I have to do something to feel productive.

We are not the stereotypical family.  We squeeze in family time during the week, not on the weekends.  I have my 9 to 5 job during the week and hubby works on the weekends.

Hubby and I split our time to care for the twins.  During the week, while I work he takes them to school and picks them up.  In addition to his weekend job, he also works from home during the week.  His flexibility made it easy for us to manage the twins’ school.

On the weekends, I completely take over while he is working. Sometimes, my friends joke that I’m a part-time single mom who has an imaginary husband.

I’ve been doing this for a few years now.  Although it is not perfect I do feel like I have gotten my routine down from spending time with my twins to getting an entire week’s blog posts ready without much sacrifice.  Ok, maybe not watching any TV is a huge sacrifice.

Today, I’d like to share how I spend my typical imperfect perfect weekend with myself and my twins.

Morning

I sleep in and won’t wake up until 9 am the latest.  I also let the twins sleep in by allowing them to stay up late the night before.  The first thing I do is make coffee and breakfast.  Then, I load the twins into the car and head to the park or library for a couple hours.  I switch up the locations once in awhile so they won’t get bored.

Afternoon

Lunch immediately after.  Once the twins are done eating they have their own play time.  While they play, I cook and prep the meals for next week.  This helps hubby get ready for lunch and dinner during the week without a lot of hassle.  I also do a couple loads of laundry and have the twins help me put the clothes away after.

Night

We usually eat dinner around 5:30/6pm, and then a movie or some kids tv shows after that.  Bath time usually happens by 8:30 pm and they are in bed no later than 9:00 pm.   I try my best to squeeze in a 35-minute yoga session once they are in bed and then work on my blog after.  I hit the sac no later than 11 pm.  I need my beauty sleep 🙂

Not every weekend works out perfectly.  Sometimes, I don’t have time to cook an entire week’s meal.  Or, sometimes I won’t have my Monday blog post ready until a day later.  Regardless, I try not to let that bother me.  It’s not the end of the world if certain things are not done on time.
