Welcome to the monthly series, In Her SHOES.  Each month the series will focus on anything shoe related from trends to reviews regardless of price.  This month I’m delighted to share a pair of cork platform sandals crafted of pink, tan and burgundy suede.  Meet…

Gianvito Rossi Ankle – Strap Platform Sandals

Price: $775 $469

Made in Italy.

4.5″ tall.

I’m petite so naturally, I love shoes that would make me look 6″ tall (at least in pictures 🙂 )   Aside from the height that it offers, I love how the platform sole delivers less stress on the ball of the foot.  Besides, who can resist the late 1960s/early ’70s aesthetic that still look modern.

Read on to see whether it was a good buy or not.  Gianvito Rossi shoes run small so order half a size up.   As mentioned previously when shopping for shoes there are three tricks that I always use whenever I try on shoes to make sure they are comfortable and fit right.

The Late Afternoon Trick

In case you’re not aware, our feet do change as the day goes on.  They tend to swell a tad, typically in the late afternoon.  That’s the best time to try on any shoe.  You want to make sure they fit right.

The Test:  I tried these sandals on at 3 in the afternoon when my feet tend to swell during that time.  They fit perfectly.

The One-Inch Trick

This typically applies to stilettos 4″ or higher.  It is recommended that you should have about an inch between the insole and your heel when you lift your heel up.  If you can’t then that means they’re probably too high and you won’t be comfortable.

The Test: These sandals definitely passed the one-inch trick.  There’s about an inch between the insole and my heel when I lift them up.

The Thumb Trick

I do this all the time, especially when trying on pumps.  Make sure the space between your big toe and the top of the shoe has about a thumb’s amount of space.  You want enough wiggle room so that friction in that area is not created.

The Test: I didn’t perform this test because the sandals are open-toe.  Overall, these shoes are very comfortable.

Pros:

They are very comfortable, light, and stylish.  I love pairing them with my summer dresses and flared denim.   I love the ankle strap – so elegant and proper.

Cons:

Well, the price of course.  Retail is $775 but I got them for less than $200 when it was on sale on top of the sale.

Opinion:

These would have to be my favorite sandals so far.  They are stylish while adding some confidence to my height 🙂

Styling Tips

These sandals are very versatile.  I would pair them with summer dresses, shorts, and flared denim.

I hope you are enjoying this new series as much as I have.  I can’t wait to share my next pair with you in September!
