Pancakes

If you are following me then you know that I’m a self-proclaimed health fanatic.  That’s why I’m beyond excited to share this new monthly series called Food Craze with you from healthy recipes to the best restaurants around town.

As a family, we always strive to eat a healthy balanced meal three times a day, especially for breakfast.  One of the things that I absolutely love to make every weekend is pancakes.

These pancakes are not your ypical pancakes made with butter and white flour. Rather, the ingredients are highly healthy like flaxseed, chia seeds, olive oil, egg white, etc… Yes, they taste just as good if not better. The most important thing is that my kids and hubby absolutely love them.

These healthy pancakes take less than 5 minutes to prepare and no more than 10 minutes to cook the entire batch.  Occasionally, I would get assistance from my little twin helpers to prep the ingredients.

Here’s how I did it:

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups    Bob’s Red Mill Organic Pastry Flour Whole Wheat
6 Tbsp          Organic Flaxseed Meal
2 Tbsp          Organic Chia Seed
3 tsp              Baking Powder
1/2 tsp          Himalayan Salt
1 3/4 cups    Organic Milk
1 Tbsp           Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/2 cup         Organic Egg White

Instructions:

1. Sift together the dry ingredients (who grain flour, flaxseed, chia seed, baking powder, and salt).

2. combine the egg white and milk and add to the flour mixture, blend together. You can use a fork if you don’t have a blender.

3. Pour batter onto a medium heat griddle and cook until bubbles are well-formed around edges of the pancakes. Flip and cook the other side until golden brown.
